Searching for Homes by School
We have more and more people ( just like we were with our kids), searching for homes that go to specific schools. This is a bit of a challenge when it comes to searching for schools because the boundaries can be very tricky! Some schools boundaries are divided between streets, even neighborhoods. If you do not have the exact boundary info, you may be missing out on listings.
In some cases, school boundaries may be changing or new schools may be in the works (such as in Brambleton). You will need to check and ensure you understand the school zoning options and what is planned before making your school decisions. Check out the video below for a case study on Woodson and Oakton HS boundaries, and what information we can provide you as Realtors!
In this scenario, we have clients that are interested in Woodson or Oakton HS.
Here are the challenges:
1- School info is not required so this field may be blank!
2- School info may be wrong – as you will see in the video
3- School info may be changing or being rezoned
4- Boundaries for schools should be verified via the school board website
In this case, I have setup the Boundary Map (not to the exact detail but enough that the clients will be able to get listings). They will need to verify some of the school info if the boundary is close to the edges.
Tim and I have decided to purchase our home(s) base on school criteria so we understand how important it can be.
If you are looking for a home within specific school boundaries, please contact us! You can be setup to receive the info on home listings that are active, COMING SOON, and more home that may be a perfect fit. There is never an obligation to work with us, and we will never spam.
